The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is the rewarding of monetary prizes for the apprehension of persons charged with any capital offense who have escaped from prison, custody, or who have fled the state. This series consists of a letter to Governor Collier asking him to issue a reward for the capture of James Childress who allegedly murdered James Robinson. The series also contains a letter to the governor concerning the necessity of a reward for the capture of William W. Dabney who allegedly murdered Israel Jacobsen. Governor Collier's handwritten reward notice for Dabney is the final item in the series.
